Reimers Observatory

Are you curious about the night sky? Do you want to learn how to use a telescope and gain confidence in finding planets, stars and constellations?  In Stargazing for Adults, you will have the chance to learn the night sky at Reimers Observatory, an astronomical observatory located in a dark sky setting at Reimers Ranch Park. Get a feel for the immense distances between the planets, learn why the North star changes over time, and understand what causes our seasons and our Moon phases through experiential and hands-on activities. This introductory level course meets once a week for 4 weeks.

The 15″ and 25″ Telescopes

At Reimers Observatory, you can experience a dark night sky close to Austin in a pristine natural environment. Each class consists of setting up our 6″ telescopes, learning how to find deep sky objects, touring the night sky that night, hearing a star lore story and viewing major celestial objects through Reimers Observatory’s 15″  and 25″ telescopes.
