We will be at the following events coming up:

 

May 11th   Hill Country Science Mill Homeschool Day.

The Hill Country Science Mill invites homeschool families and groups to join them on the second Wednesday of each month to explore the Science Mill. In addition to museum exhibits, they offer special demonstrations, activities and/or guests. Museum hours are 10am-4pm.

We will be there to view the Sun, make a pinhole projector to see the sun. If it is cloudy, we will be inside one of the silos with a hands-on black hole activity.

Cost: $6 per student. 1 free educator per student. Additional adults are $8. No reservations required.

Learning Labs will be offered at 11:30am and 1pm for an additional cost of $4 per student (limited space available for Learning Labs).

April 9, 2016     Meridian’s Science Saturday  from 1pm5pm.

This school is located in Round Rock at Meridian World School, 2555 North IH 35, Round Rock, TX 78664.

 

Meridian School’s Science Saturday

Meridian is a public, tuition-free charter school with the intent to be a K-12 continuum school for the International Baccalaureate Program.  Meridian provides an inquiry-based curriculum for its +1,000 Williamson County students. In an effort to provide students with real life experiences, the school partners with community resources for a one-day event known as Science Saturday. This event is designed to create excitement about science and to provide inquiry-based activities to further students’ understanding of the role of science in our world. Students will expand their knowledge through hands-on activities and presentations by community members, academic organizations, and a variety of associations. Prior Science Saturday partners included: University of Texas, KXAN Weather, Tesla Motors, Austin Planetarium, Alienware, and many more.

April 23rd  Boy Scout STEM-bo-ree 2016

We’ll be there to look at our Sun safely and have some hands-on activities to do.

Scientists and Engineers from the Capitol Area Council will be demonstrating SCIENCE experiments in all STEM fields at the Frank Fickett Center.  Join us as we venture into the field of Rocketry, Catapults and Chemical Reactions in a Science Fair like environment.  Your Cub Scout will be amazed by the wonders of Engineering and Mathematics as they roam the displays and hands-on STEM activities at the Frank Fickett Center!

Doors will open at 9:00am and close at 3:00pm.  Participants can attend any time within those hours. Cost per participant is $10 and each participant will get a participation guidebook

 April 29th   Kairos Academy’s Arbor Day Event from 4:30pm-8:30pm at Stubb’s BBQ in SW Austin.

We’ll be there looking at the Sun with our telescope and have star wheels to cut out and keep. Come do hands-on activities for the entire family.

Kairos Academy

Kairos Academy of Austin, Inc. is an educational and charitable 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is seeking to establish tuition-free school in Austin, Texas as early as Aug. 2017. Kairos Academy will open for grades K-6 and will grow a grade each year through Grade 12.
